Common wisdom holds that Memorial Day weekend is the official start of grilling season, but outdoor chefs got the jump on the holiday this year. Perhaps they were testing the propane in the tank or just emptying bags of last year’s briquettes, but searches on “barbecue” jumped over 1,000% this past weekend.
Queries on the traditional bastion of male cookery show signs of growing female influence—a full one-third of barbecue queries come from women. Related terms, such as “bbq recipes,” “barbecue grills,” “bbq,” and “gas grills” also sizzled in Search.
