Do country music fans hold grudges? If so, we can’t wait to see how the Dixie Chicks perform in Search and sales when their new album hits stores on May 23. Queries on the Chicks jumped 121% yesterday after Bill O’Reilly and Joe Scarborough both used the band as a measuring stick in the tiresome “cultural war” they wage on their opinion-laden cable shows.
After bashing President Bush onstage in 2003, the Chicks were shunned by some in the country music world, and relations haven’t exactly improved since. That said, searches on their non-apologetic new single “Not Ready to Make Nice” have spiked as allies and foes alike comb through the lyrics. The trio is still a hit with chicks with a small “c” — three-quarters of searches on the band come from women. And people are still buzzin’ about these Chick-related items…
