The Disney Channel knows the formula for teen hits, and its latest concoction is making noise in the Buzz. “Hannah Montana” is a euphonic smash, and searches on the show hit a growth spurt yesterday, up 120% after weekend showings on the youth-saturated cable network.
Gals under 17 make up the power base for the program, logging over half of all its searches. Girl power pushes “Hannah” into our top 500 searches and fuels related searches on “hannah montana lyrics” and “disney hannah montana.”
So what’s it all about, you ask? Well, it’s the story of a young girl who’s a normal student by day, pop star by night. The show’s popularity has boosted buzz on all the actors involved.
Show star Miley Cyrus jumped 147% in searches, and related queries on “miley cyrus biography” and “miley cyrus pictures” also stepped up. It just so happens that young Miley is the daughter of formerly mulleted icon Billy Ray Cyrus, who also plays her pop on the show. Searches on the achy-breaky one are up 218%, while other stars Emily Osment (+232%), Mitchel Musso (+75%), and Jason Earles (+101%) are all basking in Hannah’s cheerful glow.
