Searches on “Star Trek” were flat over the last week, a situation that will change as we head into this weekend’s Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas. This year’s Con will celebrate the 40-year anniversary of the show’s debut and will undoubtedly kick off renewed interest in the venerable franchise.
Who are the Trek searchers? Well, three-quarters of them are guys and the bulk of Buzz comes from the 35-to-44 age bracket. Trekkies are an easy target for humor, but instead of a stale joke about most “Trek” searches emanating from mom’s basement, we’ll just say the top three Trekkie search metros are Phoenix, Dallas, and Cleveland. A disparate group of cities to be sure, but Star Trek is a phenomenon with no borders.
We set our phasers to Search, and brought the top 20 “Star Trek” searches onto the bridge for inspection. Here’s what we found…
